Hi everyone the Gold is done! What a day!!!! The wind started out a light N/W and became a strong northerly. Possibly the hardest way to do the return leg of the Gold.
I will post my Final Gold blog tomorrow night I’m a bit tired
Caine Eckstein took out his fifth title, an amazing effort.
Caine and GA before the race
I had a solid first leg on the ski arriving in 12th but less than 2 min from 5th. I found a few guys to swim with and held on, as well as picked up a place or two, but the conditions where bumpy and tough. By the board leg the wind was strong in the face and my lack of specific training really showed here.
I was outside the top 20 after the Board and now happy to be on the 10km run for home and relived that I would even make it!
I picked up four guys on the run but have no idea of my final placing.
A very, even massive thank you to my crew, without them I wouldn’t have made it.
My gorgeous lady Alana, my sister Nicole, Mum Gloria and Dad who guided me through the swim on a board. My Mates Jay who ran all day with fluids for me, Steve Gall for expertly transporting Jay from point to point of the biggest Scooter in town, and Froggy for all the great pics and support.
Thanks guys for all the support for this.
Guy
