I was enjoying my moring coffee today, skim reading the courier mail when an advertisment for this weekends Kelloggs Nutri Grain Ironman series final caught my eye.
As I read on about the Noosa event I Noticed the great Trevor Hendys name mentioned along side Leech, Riddington, Thuys and then my own name right there in print! “Hello, what am I doing this weekend? I asked myself.
Oh the Legends of Ironman race….
It seems the logistics department dosen’t talk to the advertising department over there at Kelloggs head quarters. I didn’t even know I was supposed to be there.
I did wander down to Currumbin to take part in the first Legends relay event and had fun racing against the boys again.
I’m not sure if I had enough fun however to drive for three hours to Noosa for a 3min ski leg in a relay race.
My training is going very well for this seasons many and varied multisport events with an outright win in last weekends Run/Swim race at Burleigh Heads, a good indicator my prep for this years Anaconda series is on track.
With only a few weeks till the next round of the Tre-X off road triathlon and the next two rounds of the Bluhat run/swim events on the 23rd and 26th I’m busy preparing.
My Run group is growing steadily with new gun runner Caine joining us this week, keeping Kevin, Shanan and myself on our toes.
Saturday is shaping up to be a great day, trail run in the moring, paddling in the afternoon.
Sunday is a 4 hour road ride in place of the missed oportunity to race in the Legends event in Noosa.
I tell you what, if Leechy, Hendy and co want to do a real Ironman race as a crowd pleaser before the main event I’ll be there. Perhaps something like the popular Tennis or Golf Masters. Now that would be fun, or at least interesting.
As for the future of Ironman for me, I am looking forward to puting some of my fitness from Multisport Adventure racing to good use in this years Coolangatta Gold. Not in the “Masters” or the “legends” event, In the main event!

I watched the highlights of a couple of the legends series. Team Kenny Wallace, Emma Moffatt and Grant Davies are still competing at olympic level, some of the other guys seem to have let themeselves go a bit and need to get back into training. Guy Leech is an exception, he seems to be reasonably competitive. They should even the teams up a bit, put the fat guys with the fast guys.
I’m trying to get leechy to do a whole Anaconda race, he’s done a couple of relays and now sells a “Guy Leech Pro series” of multisport gear in Anaconda.
He’s not taken me up on the challenge as of yet.
all i can say is thankyou for not doing the masters coolie… lol
If your 100% fit and race CG I will put money on you Guy. Train hard and stay focused…
Thanks for the vote of confidence Jarad.
