  • Coolangatta Gold

Well it looks like I’m going to toe the line in this years Coolangatta Gold 50km of Surf Ski, Swim, Board paddle and Running the length of the Gold Coast beaches from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta and return. I like many saw the Movie of the same name as a 14 year old and was inspired to become a full time Ironman and find myself a hot little ballerina- both of which I’ve achieved. Training has already started and is [...]

    Trek and paddle all day..

What a day! Talk about ‘play outside’ first of all I met up with my running buddies for a fantastic run along part of the new ‘Great Walk’ section of trail from Apple tree Park on Springbrook Plateaudown to Numinbah valley and return via 800 hand made stairs, losing and gaining around 1600m elevation. Crossing some fantastic rivers and seeing one of the prettiest valleys in the country. Shannan posing.. having a crack at the karate kid pose. The recent rain has [...]

  • “Masters” or “Main” event?

I was enjoying my moring coffee today, skim reading the courier mail when an advertisment for this weekends Kelloggs Nutri Grain Ironman series final caught my eye. As I read on about the Noosa event I Noticed the great Trevor Hendys name mentioned along side Leech, Riddington, Thuys and then my own name right there in print! “Hello,  what am I doing this weekend? I asked myself.  Oh the Legends of Ironman race…. It seems the logistics department dosen’t talk [...]

    Crazy Paddle

I went for a crazy paddle yesterday afternoon with the guys from ocean paddling group ‘Tower 22″ The group is named after the Life Guard tower we meet at most days for training. The forecast was for better than 30 knot winds from the South East and they where every bit of that! We set off from Cabarita Beach near Hastings point with a messy 6 foot of surf. The life guards had the ‘beach closed’ signs up and [...]

  • My Head Spins

After spending a weekend skippering a 50 foot Catamaran around Moreton bay in storms of up to 30knots, I’ve come away with a new appreciation for the Sydney Hobart sailors! and the thought of little Jessica Watson circumnavigating the globe single handed makes my head spin more than it is this morning searching for my land legs. I’ve seen the seas on the Bass Strait first hand after two successful sea kayak crossings in 2007 and 2009 and let me tell you it’s [...]
